2010 Cannes Film Festival

Please excuse my lack of recent outfit posts. Due to a busy schedule this week, and a sudden illness, I have not been wearing anything worth photographing lately. Hopefully by Monday I'll be back to it. The good news is that I had my Drs appointment yesterday, and found out I'm approximately three months along; an ultrasound in ten days will give me more of an exact delivery date. So three down, six more to go! And about 20 more pounds to gain...not looking forward to that part though. In the meantime, I happened across photos from the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, and some of my favorite picks are below. Absolutely love the Balmain dress for it's edginess and sexiness; Michele's dress reminds me of phyllo dough, haha, but is gorgeous for summer. Love everything Diane Kruger wears! And there were mixed reviews about Elizabeth Banks' dress, but I love the watercolor effect, the colors are gorgeous, and I admire her ability to pull it off. Fan looks like an exotic fairy stepping out of an enchanted forest, her dress reminds me of weeping willows and mists. And Salma Hayak pulls of a simple, yet creatively draped Gucci gown. Sigh. What must it be like to be adorned in such glamour? But hey, at least I'm comfortable and cozy in my sweats from Target, and I didn't spend a whole years salary on it, either.

Kate Beckingsale in Balmain

Michele Yeoh in Cavalli

Diane Kruger

Elizabeth Banks in Georges Chakra

Fan Bingbing

Salma Hayek in Gucci

"Pack Your Bags" Contest Entries

I have finally posted the entries for my "Pack Your Bags" Contest. I thank everyone so much for their patience, as I know the contest was supposed to end awhile ago. But then people said they needed more time, finals were during that time, etc., just not good planning on my part. And in the end, I only have five entries. But that will just make it easier to vote on a winner. So you readers are the judges. Scroll down through the entries and decide which one is the most deserving of the prize. The overall theme was to pick a destination you'd love to travel to and dress accordingly. Optional details could be included, such as who you'd bring, what you'd do, etc. so keep in mind when judging which entry made you imagine what it would be like to be at that destination.

*UPDATE: I forgot to mention that voting will last until next Friday (June 4th) so be sure to get your votes in by then!

1. Angie of Pandaphilia
"This Paris-inspired outfit is pretty much entirely Forever21 Tres Paris collection and I fell in love so my Mom bought it for me for Christmas : ) I would like to go to France someday - it is my dream! I'm very enamored with the romance of French culture and I secretly want to get proposed to in Paris x3.

I'd bring my boyfriend! He speaks French and has been to Paris before, so he can show me around. I dream of drinking coffee in a European styled coffee shop and reading novels between shopping for chic Parisian style.

I want to dance on the top of the Eiffel Tower (yes, the tippy top), but I don't think they would allow it. We can always dream, right? <3"

2. Jina
"I will try to participate in the contest. The theme 'Club' I've never been to the club. Just the thought would be fun. I'll be at the club, I'll take glow sticks, polaroid, camcorder. I will give the people distributing glow sticks, I'm having a photo taken with a Polaroid. It will be a celebration of a lifetime for me."

3. Liana of Beauty Bag 411

"I have always wanted to go to Paris, among the many other places I would travel. Of course I want to go because of the awesome fashion (I would die to be able to go to a fashion show!), but also I love the architecture, food, and atmosphere it conjures up in my mind. It just seems so chic and sophisticated."

4. Nikki of Ewwitsnikki

5. Jenna of The Petite Blogger

"My country of destination would be Egypt. I am just fascinated by pyramids. I'm just puzzled how pyramids could be manmade and I think I really need to see one for real to believe it!!! I also would love to ride on the back of a camel in the sand dunes... I think it would be one hell of an awesome adventure!

So my outfit was really inspired by egyptian goddess but reinterpreted in my own way. Didn't want to go all white and gold and wanted to bring some colours in! I'm simply wearing my American Eagle white shorts, random strapless top, my colourful sarong that I tied on one shoulder to wear as a drapy tunic, Ralph Lauren heels and my DIY headchain.

I would love to wear this outfit to a dinner party in the middle of the sand dunes and under the stars with belly dancers entertaining all the guests. It would be certainly be a night to remember for the rest of my life!"

Insert Title Here

Sometimes it's just hard to think of a title.

My latest obsession has been with not fashion, but cooking! Yup, I love me some cooking shows and I love when I get a chance to try out a new recipe. That hardly ever happens though, so I usually stick to the things I know. But I have been cooking a whole lot more than usual, now that I have more time. Made a batch of homemade tamales yesterday- three hours time and were eaten in five minutes. Tonight I'm making chicken pot pies from scratch. Suppose I could've taken some pics. What about you guys? Do you like cooking? Would you be interested if I posted recipes and such on here as well? Let's here your stomachs have to say on the matter :)

The Next Chapter

Friday was my last day of work. It was a bittersweet ending. A large part of me wanted to stay, while the other part was dying to get out. But my co-workers were so sweet and brought in some gorgeous flowers, the best ice cream cake ever, donuts and bean dip. I know, weird combo, but loved it!

Since then, I've spent the last couple days working on cleaning the house and running errands, the things I normally never had time for. I'm enjoying my new flexible schedule, but I already miss the job. Go figure. Been mostly sporting pj's or sweats, so today was the first actual day I threw something on and I managed to snap a quick pic. On the lookout now for loose, comfy clothing.

FIN

Well, tomorrow's my last day of work. As excited as I am, I can't help but feel a little down about leaving. I met a lot of great people there whom I will miss seeing on a daily basis and found out that I had talent I wasn't aware of. However, I am excited that summer is coming, and with it will come a major overhaul of my house in preparation for the new family member.

Finally wore these olive green eyelet shorts I got at Forever 21 as a sample piece. They are so comfy and cute, but sadly I can only wear them a little while longer, as my waist expands, haha. And after seeing this picture and the last couple posts, I realize I need to invest in some new flat shoes, as these black flats are worn down. I miss my heels! Maybe now that I won't be on my feet 8 hours a day I can wear them sparingly.

And as for those of you wondering about the contest, I had extended it as a convenience for those who needed more time. But unfortunately, those people have either forgotten or lost interest. I have three entries so far I will post soon. I see now I had picked a bad time to hold the contest, seeing how everyone told me they had finals to cram for. Next time I will have to pay attention to the timing. But oh well, lesson learned.

Just A Little Bit of Something

Just two days left at work...counting down the minutes. Hopefully, once this bit of stress is finally done with, I will be back in full blogging mode.

If Looks Could Kill....

...then Lily Cole would be a force to be reckoned with. She is one of my favorite models. Her looks are innocently sweet, yet cleverly seductive. She is versatile and can pull of any look, such as Gothic in a Vogue photo shoot with Marilyn Manson. I believe she could draw men in with her Lolita-esque presence, then go in for the kill. To which I'm sure there would be no complaints.

I do apologize for the amount of time that has been elapsing between posts lately. This last week or so has been especially wearing on me, and this is my final week at my job. In the process of recovering from an overnight shift, which was rough. But the highlight to my week and last (which was especially awful) is that I came home to not only a hand decorated vase made by my adorable son for Mother's Day, but also a brand new California King bed. Been needing a new bed for some time, as the last one was starting to cave in the middle (I blame the two 80lb pit bulls who slept with us) and was definitely not helping my back problems. Leave it to my wonderful husband to take care of getting a new one for me, not only because we needed one, but because he knew I'll need to get good rest during the pregnancy. Isn't he a sweetheart? Yeah, I think I'll keep him for awhile. Since the arrival of the new bed, I have spent every spare moment lounging lazily in bed reading and admiring the amount of space I have to sprawl out. Not that I need much, being all of 5', but it's nice to know I have the extra room if I want it :)
