Shades of Grey

Sorry, haven't done a post in a couple days. Been kinda crappy the last few days. But luckily my sis came to visit me, so we've been hanging out. This outfit is what I wore on Friday. I am so in love with oversize cardis and sweaters and wraps. They are so cozy for the winter! And this "thing" is actually a romper, not a dress. I think the last time I actually wore a romper was when I was a kid :) It was cute, but I practically had to strip to go to the bathroom, lol.

Went to a thrift store with my friends Ash and Kohl (you can see a bit of Kohl in the pics, he's the "glow in the dark" guy discreetly taking the photos) . Kohl made me try to take my own pic in the 3 way mirror, but apparently I'm not that talented. We had everyone there laughing because we're always loud and silly. Found a couple cute pieces....left with 3 things for a total of $11, not too shabby.

So I'm thinking of entering BuyDefinitions "It Girl" contest, which you can read about on Chictopia.com. Which means I'd have to come up with a killer outfit....a bit of a challenge! I'll keep you posted on whether or not it happens. Anyhoo, have a good rest of the weekend everyone! :)

The Big Reveal

Earlier on my blog I did a post wherein I described the latest trends for Spring 2010. One of them was called "The Big Reveal" (style.com) and is a lingerie inspired concept. This is my everyday take on the look. The blouse is actually a pajama top I found at a thrift store awhile back. Since I had to wear it to work, I wore a cami underneath, but if it wasn't for work it could be worn with just a bra underneath, letting the stomach part remain sheer. This is how you can make runway pieces work for everyday life, mixing it with other pieces so it is suitable to wear in public. Unless of course you can get away with the straight-off-the-runway look (which I can't, lol). I paired it with my faux leather leggings and ankle boots to give it an edge. I love this top, it's comfortable and has a sweet, romantic feel to it.

The last pics are from work. For some reason we have a huge underwater theme painted on the wall, hence the giant octopus lurking above our heads. :)

Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture Show

Once again, Christian Dior has taken my breath away. Last time it was because of his 50's lingerie inspired line with pops of neon lime, pink and orange. This time it was due to the equestrienne themed show with bold red, black and gray, intermixed with pink, olive green, yellow and silver. Absolutely stunning, is it not?

Weardrobe Contest

So here is my entry for Weardrobe.com's winter accessories contest. What do you think ? The sweater is super comfy, but not the easiest to work in, especially if you are up and down a ladder, lol. And of course, first thing this morning I was going into work, and the tie was hanging down and got dragged through the rain and dirt :P, so I had to wash it right away. But I still really love this look. The knit headband, gold necklace and cami give it a vintage feel, while the leather shorts and black stocking and boots kind of edges it up a bit. Of course, the pics were taken after work and it was getting late, so these photos were shot across from the parking lot. But overall I think they came out pretty well (after some editing by me, actually). Some guys from the store next to ours came out to smoke and were watching, so it was kind of like a mini photo shoot. If you guys like it, please go to this link http://www.weardrobe.com/pictures/216235 to "heart it" (click on the heart, may need to sign in or register to vote). Thanks for the support, let me hear your feedback!

All Banged Up

Today was a pretty chill day for a Monday...except for the fact I got a bunch of picture frames dropped on me from overhead at work. I was kneeling on the ground and Kohl was on a ladder and a bunch of frames fell down and hit me. Luckily the glass that shattered didn't hit me though. You could hear Kohl screaming through the store, while I was so unaware that I didn't even notice what was going on. It was actually kinda funny, and now I can make Kohl feel guilty by saying, "yeah, remember when you tried to kill me" LOL. But now my arm hurts in two places. On another note, had no idea what to wear to work today, so threw this outfit together last minute. Not too bad, I must admit. Comfy, but stylish. Tomorrow I plan on wearing an outfit to enter in the Weardrobe.com "winter accessories" contest, so please watch for that and vote for me if you think I'm stylish enough! Thanks to all of you for your comments and support! I seriously read every comment and respond. You can also find me on Chictopia.com, a great website to meet other stylish people and bloggers. It's a really fun site, so check it out! Just click on the banner on the side to get to the site, and if you want to add me, just message me or send me a friend request. I am also on Bloglovin' and Twitter. Yes, I have sunken into the social media abyss.... :)

February Giveaway

I would like to do a giveaway for February, but would like to wait until I reach at least 50 followers. So join up, pass this link along: http://beneaththeglass.blogspot.com/, add me to your blogrolls, etc. Please don't feel pressured to do so, this is simply something fun I want to do for my readers, but since I have so few I feel it would be more fair if I acquired more first. Also, please comment back with suggestions on what you would like to receive as a giveaway. It could be a gift card, magazine subscription, etc. I will review them before I make my final decision on what to give, but any comments are welcome. As my blog expands I would like to do more giveaways, contests, polls and so on, but in order to do so I need more followers. Thanks for your support, I truly appreciate your comments, suggestions and questions. I do this simply because I love it and without you guys I would be just doing it for myself which isn't as fun :)

*giveaways and contests are sponsored solely by me. any gifts or prizes are purchased by me. i don't receive reimbursements or endorse any kind of products. this is simply for enjoyment!

Some Like It Hot

Decided I needed to update my "naughty" drawer with some new lingerie, so I went to my local sex shop. Quite hilarious place. Dildos in every color of the rainbow...movies, books, lubes, etc. Not for the faint of heart. After trying on several items, I left with this black mesh thingy (for your sake I won't post it here ;) that left little to the imagination. Unless you imagine a hooker/stripper, lol. Normally, Mike hates me spending money on clothes....but he was perfectly satisfied with this new purchase ^_^

Rising Up

Yesterday I was made the Lead Visual at our store. Not a huge deal, there's no raise or anything, but it's awesome because I'm being recognized for my hard work and talent. Of course, then Kohl had to give me hell all day about it, lol. And I also got a gift card for having the best shops, so I will post what I got later. It has been a great week! On top of that, I got to help so many people pick out outfits, and they loved them all. Man, I have been on a roll lately! Now all I need is to win the lottery and I'll be set..... :)

Lady or the (White) Tiger

Has been really crappy weather lately. Makes me not want to do anything! But on the other hand, I've always loved winter because you can layer lots of clothing and look cute, whereas in the summer, you can only take off so much clothing. Well, actually you could take it all off, but I don't think that's allowed in public and no one wants to see that anyways :)

Nice to hear

Yesterday I had the nicest compliment. I work at Forever 21 (Visual Merchandiser extraordinaire) and there was an older gentleman who came into the store and was walking past me with a co-worker. As he walked by, he said "I've been looking for you everywhere" which I thought was a little weird and honestly kinda creepy. Turns out, his daughters come into the store all the time and see me there, and they sent him in there to find me because they wanted him to buy them clothes and they wanted me to pick them out because they love the way I dress. That was so flattering to me! It really goes to show that people notice what you are wearing whether you know it or not. Luckily, I was dressed cute too when he came in....it would have been embarrassing if he had come in and I was in just a plain shirt and jeans or something like that. It made me feel so good!

Blackout

So today I decided to glam it up a bit, because all of us were going to dress up. I really love the pencil skirt, but man, does it show every little curve. I felt very classy and sophisticated, although the outfit looked so much better in person than on camera, for some reason it does not look the same on film. And of course, it was windy as hell so my umbrella decided it didn't want to cooperate with me. I struggled to tame it and eventually I got it handled, but not until everyone was crying with laughter. But at least I still have my dignity.

Material Girl

Pretty chill day at work....theme was 80's. Had to switch my ankle boots since they were killing me! Kohl bravely wore a hot pink muscle tee. Of course it was windy as hell, so my dress kept flying around, but luckily I had a hole in the back of my tights I didn't know about, so I'm sure everyone got an eyeful.
