Fringe Benefits

Yesterday Mike and I decided to go get some new tattoos. I was super stoked to get a new one on my forearm, and since it's really hard to get Mike going, I was even more excited that he so readily agreed since it was already almost 7 o'clock. Well, imagine my disappointment after getting to the place and being told that you can't get tattooed when pregnant. How come I didn't know this? Apparently Mike did and forgot to mention it. So now that's one more thing that I can't do for another four months. But in the meantime, I'm getting immortalized on Mike's arm, along with portraits of our pit bulls. I wonder if I should be offended that my picture is being included with the dogs? But seriously, it's looking awesome so far.

Since I can't do much else, I've been in a crafty, DIY mood. So I started this morning with shredding one of Mike's beloved Harley t shirts. He was not amused, but hey, it was in the name of fashion. And it didn't fit anymore. My outfit ended up looking like Pocahontas met Mad Max. Then I spent the next two or so hours in Michael's craft store. After deliberating for quite some time, I ended up leaving with nothing I had come for, and made several simple pieces I had no intention of making, ie. these feather earrings. But then again, I never do what I plan, which is why I usually never plan to begin with.

Easy Come, Easy Go

Aden wants to be my new photographer

I damn near ate the whole thing- but I'm eating for two, so cut me some slack, lol

that's my sister, not me....I know someone will ask that

My sister and her son came to visit me yesterday. I love it when she visits, although as usual we ended up doing the same routine thing we always do when she visits, namely shop and eat. This time we hit the local thrift stores, where after inhaling the mustiness of clothing past, we left unsuccessful in our attempts. Funny, because I recently hit the Goodwill and consignment store the day previous and found several items. It seems I can only score finds when no one is around.

Today we had the idiotic notion of taking the kids to the park with Peanut. I don't know what we were thinking, what with the 102 degree weather and all. Thirty minutes later we left, thoroughly drenched in sweat with two cranky kids and a worn out puppy. Now they've gone home and I'm about to strip off my clothes, lie in bed and let the air conditioning work its magic.

Helplessly Hoping

I've discovered I have a mild obsession with oversized tops lately. There's just something about draping yourself in lots of extra fabric that I find comforting. Maybe it's a security thing. Since the baby is starting to show rather a lot (trust me, it is), I find myself in that awkward phase of wanting to show it off, yet feeling fat and ungraceful at the same time. But then again, maybe it has to do with the hundred degree weather we've been suffering through. Believe me, the last thing I want to deal with right now is form fitting clothes getting sweaty and sticking to me. Then again, as much as I love this top (recently thrifted for a mere $5, yay me!) it isn't exactly what I would recomment for extreme heat situations, as the crocheted fabric is a bit itchy, not a good combo with sweat.

Oh, say hello to my newest family member:

I know, your heart stopped for a minute, right? Is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen? He is so lovable and cuddly, and he sleeps in my arms at night. I do need to get him housebroken though, as he has already peed on my bed several times and elsewhere. But I figure I might as well get used to it, seeing as how I'm expecting a little one in about four more months.

I call him Peanut. If you've got any better names, I'm all ears.

*What do you guys think about the new header and layout tweaks? Good, bad, disgusting?

Fantasy into Reality

Alessandra Ambrosio by Jacques Dequeker for Vogue Brazil July 2010

Alessandro Ambrosio has always been one of my favorite Victoria's Secret Angels. I swear they must be putting something in the water in Brazil to produce such beautiful women. And I would kill for the last four pieces she is wearing.

I managed to survive all winter without getting sick....so imagine my surprise that I now have the flu in 90 degree weather. Go figure. Hope to be back to my radiant self soon.
